The Ashfield Trust - supporting bereaved families in maternity The Ashfield Trust is our charitable fund that provides extra support for the Maternity Bereavement team based on Level 7 at the John Radcliffe's Maternity Centre. The team here helps to care for women and their families when they have lost a baby late in pregnancy or shortly after giving birth. The Fund, which is part of Oxford Hospitals Charity, has helped to create bereavement suites that give families a private and appropriate space, away from other maternity wards, to grieve and create memories with their child. Thanks to the kind generosity of our community, these rooms are equipped with cooling cots, that enable families to stay close to their baby for a little longer. Hand and foot castings are also provided, alongside memory boxes, to help families create tangible memories, that can help with the long-term grieving process. We have also recently created a Butterfly Memorial Garden - a tranquil outdoor space for families to use at their time of loss.
